Check out this article on CNN's website. Here's a highlight:"The replacement of vigorous outdoor activities by sedentary, indoor
videophilia has far-reaching consequences for physical and mental
health, especially in children," Pergams said in a statement.
"Videophilia has been shown to be a cause of obesity, lack of
socialization, attention disorders and poor academic performance."http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/science/02/05/nature.interest.ap/index.html

Thanks for the link. The concepts in this article are relevant to my research! :-)
"Videophilia has been shown to be a cause of obesity, lack of socialization, attention disorders and poor academic performance."
I really don't know, maybe if we over use the video game and play "too much" yes it is what just listed above. But just one quote is just staying and buzzing in my head: "lack of socialization"?
On-line games have proved over recent years for great place for socialization and a place for participation of communities.
Even for the War on Iraq, before the troops go overseas, they are trained through this on-line situation gaming system, that helps them to overcome the cultural differences and difficulties they have.
Of course I'm not saying gaming is the solution for everything, but also I'm not saying that it's bad thing to do.
I really don't remember where but in one article it proved that thumbs (the most unused part of human fingers) have developed to a stage where it functions as good as other fingers because the gaming system helped them through it. this might be a little out there, still video games have gave us the privilege for developing our lives.
I guess it's important for us to understand that "too much of anything is not good"
video, TV, movies anything doing it too much it's not good, even reading books and stuff. How about going out side? yes if anyone is obsessed with one thing i guess that's what we should look out for, not the activity itself.
