Lankshear, C., & Knobel, M. (2007). Sampling "the New" in New Literacies. In M. Knobel & C. Lankshear (Eds.), A New Literacies Sampler (Vol. 29, pp. 1-24). New York: Peter Lang.

The article discusses that there is an intertwined relationship between the technologies that we use and the social practices that we engage in. Lankshear and Knobel categorize some of these  emerging social patterns in terms of the "mindset" differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 users of technology.

While reading this you should be thinking about how these mindsets are represented (or not) in the tools that you use both as part of the class and in the rest of your life. Also you should be thinking about how these mindsets are likely to impact teaching and learning, in particular as related to the ideas of community, identity and design.
