We're into the tenth week of the term (and whoa is the term flying by!). So far, students have written three major assignments in tech writing: a rhetorical analysis, an internet resource guide, and a job application package (including resumes and cover letters). Some students are writing mostly on the iPad, some are writing mostly on their computers, and some are using them in conjunction with each other.
We've conducted two sets of research interviews with students in my 202C course and instructors in the teacher training course. During our first set in September, we asked about general impressions. This time, we asked about their reading, writing, and research practices with the iPad. We really can't draw conclusions from the interviews at this point, but it seems like students are using the iPads in various ways and integrating them into their work and writing habits to varying degrees.
Our project has received a little bit of press, including a story at Penn State's Teaching and Learning with Technology, and a blog post at Onward State.
