Informal Learning Space Resources

This project blog has been established as a way of collecting and sharing resources related to informal learning spaces, which are non-classroom spaces that students use to study together and collaborate on projects, presentations, and research.   Such spaces complement formal classrooms, instructional labs, and private study spaces to enrich the learning environment.  We feel that by creating engaging learning spaces, we can unleash the creative abilities of our students and help them develop the collaborative skills that they need for their academic life and beyond.

The ideas here represent the collective thinking of a university-wide Informal Learning Spaces group that has been asked to examine existing spaces and create a long-term vision for Penn State.  The posts here will include a wide range of resources: the principles of design considerations, implementation, support, examples (locally and at other universities), trends in use, stories in the media, related blog posts, etc...
